Mahindra XUV 300 new model 2022 is inspired by from the Korean Sub 4 Meter SUV SsangYong Tivoli. Yes, you’ve heard that right, though Mahindra has revised and rebadged the entire vehicle thoroughly. Still, there are a few bits of Tivoli design which can be traced on the XUV 300.

Starting off the front end includes a chrome meshed grille with some amount of chrome and black elements. 2022 Mahindra XUV 300 gets best in class design on the outside comprising of a sharp body lining that goes along with a Single Unit LED DRL fog lamps and headlamps, garnishing LED taillamps and a roof-mounted spoiler to justify the sporty appeal of the car. Mahindra claims the design language of the XUV 300 to be inspired by a Cheetah. And if we’re talking about the sporty appeal, you’ll get to see a set of 17-inch Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels running on the 2022 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6.

Talking about the side profile, the new BS6 Mahindra XUV 300 brings you an option to go for a dual-tone paint scheme which further enhances the on-road presence of the car when you have look at the vehicle from its side profile. You’ll even notice completely blacked-out C-pillars and a set of non-functional roof-rails which looks kind of attractive, according to its dimensions.

Even after being a compact SUV, new 2022 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 doesn’t provide enough storage space in the boot (257-litre) as it was supposed to be. However, if we keep the boot space section apart, the new BS6 Mahindra XUV 300 gives you a very comfortable and commanding driving position with good visibility of what’s all around. Moving on to the rear cabin isn’t that disappointing either if you can adjust yourself without any rear AC vents, offering a decent amount of headroom and knee room, along with a large comfortable seat that can easily accommodate three adult passengers without much of a stress.

Discussing the features on offers is where the Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 really outshines its tough competitors. Mahindra XUV 300 new model 2022 houses a great dual-tone cabin with silver finishing on the dash and centre console, along with piano black touches on the door armrest. Other impressive interior elements include several segment-first features like dual-zone climate control, seven airbags and all-wheel disc brakes.

In terms of equipment, the all-new XUV 300 offers a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, keyless entry, reverse camera, auto headlamps with rain-sensing wipers, electric sunroof, leather seat upholstery, push-button start, multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel and a lot more. Considering other storage spaces, 2022 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 offers decent storage spaces for phones, bottles, wallet and more.

2022 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 is available in only two engine variants which are both BS6 compliant. First one is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 110bhp of power at 5000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 2000-3500rpm. The second one is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, the same which is seen on the Mahindra Marrazo. However, this 1.5 litres Marrazo derived diesel motor is tuned very differently for the Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 to deliver 115bhp of power at 3,750rpm and 300Nm of best in class torque between 1,500 and 2,500rpm straight from the word “GO”. Now if we talk about the gearbox options, the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only. Whereas, the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine brings you an option to go for the 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic (AMT) transmission.

Handling part on the new BS6 Mahindra XUV 300 is something which Mahindra boasts about. Even after hitting the BS6 emission norms, the XUV 300 efficiently manages to deliver the same amount of punch and feel as it used to in its BS4 variants. The Mahindra XUV 300 new model 2022 provides the best in segment engine performance on offer from both the diesel and petrol engines.

Petrol: The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, three-cylinder motor offers great levels of refinement with the same amount of power and torque as it used to produce in its BS4 avatars. The motor is very powerful and punchy in it’s mid-range and can easily reach three-digit speeds without hesitating, but there’s noticeably some amount of turbo lag and vibrations from the motor. Also, Mahindra could have offered an option for automatic transmission for the XUV 300 petrol variants.

Diesel: The 1.5-litre turbo-diesel motor is the icing on the cake for buyers in terms of refinement and power figures, it’s extremely silent as well despite being a diesel engine. Both the manual and automatic transmissions are very well calibrated to the motor, making the shifts much quicker than before. And if we talk about its performance, it has enough punch to quickly overtake and drive even if the vehicle is in third gear.

Ride quality is awe-inspiring, all you have to do is just hit the pedal to the floor and watch it glide over the roads and rough terrains, due to the slick-shifting gearboxes on offer with a reasonably light clutch operation. The steering offers great feedback as well, you can even adjust the weight of the steering as per your liking with the help of multiple steering modes. The most significant factor which pulls back the XUV 300 from its current market rivals is its long gear transactions which could be much better. While the all-wheel disc brakes on new Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 provide an incredible bite to the wheels of the vehicle and bring it to a stop as quick as possible.

Apart from that, the new Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 is an amazing vehicle to drive home if all you want is a performance SUV with a bunch of loaded new in segment features and best in class safety features like seven airbags, ESP with roll-over mitigation, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, auto-dimming IRVM, corner braking control, cornering lights, cruise control, hill start assist, etc.

Overall, the new 2022 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 is a great sub 4 meter SUV in terms of performance, safety, equipment and design. Also, the Mahindra XUV 300 new model 2022 has recently scored a 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP Crash Test for adult safety and a 4-Star rating for the child safety. Which make its one of the safest cars currently on sale in India after its biggest rival in the segment Tata Nexon.

The new Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 interiors are not that great as compared to other sub 4 meter SUV’s in the segment like the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and even the Hyundai Creta. But, for people who are looking for an SUV’s that’s best for family adventures and long drives, and also a car that just blows like the wind just with the word go, the BS6 Mahindra XUV 300 is the only option in the segment that you should consider buying.
