New BS6 Hero Splendor iSmart now offers a bigger 113.2 cc engine which churns out a maximum power output of 9bhp at 7500rpm and a peak torque of 9.89Nm at 5500rpm. The power is delivered to the rear wheel via 4-Speed chain drive transmission with 10 % more torque across the rev range. There has been a lot of work done on the motor to make it more refine and BS6 compliant. Hero has also introduced fuel-injection into their new BS6 Hero Splendor iSmart to keep the emissions under control along with better throttle response. You’ll also get to see the i3s technology where the i3S stands for idle Stop-Start System. So’ basically what i3S does is that it slightly improves the fuel economy of the motor by automatically switching it off after 5 seconds of idling. The system then restarts the engine automatically as soon as the clutch lever is pulled back in action.
Hero has significantly improved the ride quality and handling of the all new BS6 Splendor iSmart as compared to its previous generations. That’s all thanks to its revised diamond frame chassis which weighs just 116 kg which is less and because of this, the bike can be easily manoeuvrable in the traffic and while applying brakes it comes to a stop very confidently. Even the ground clearance of the new gen Hero Splendor iSmart BS6 is only 180mm which is enough for our present Indian road conditions to perform the daily day to day commutes without any issue.
Although, due to the addition of fuel injection, Hero Splendor iSmart BS6 mileage has gone down nearly to 60 kmpl. If we talk about comfort, the bike comes equipped with Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers in the front and Adjustable Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at the rear to absorbs even the roughest bumps easily and keep the rider comfortable. Safety features include Integrated Braking System and tubeless tyres.
