Mahindra Alturas G4 reminds us much more of a boxy tall boy SUV than a Crossover. Instead of SsangYong branding like the previous generation Rexton, Alturas G4 gets Mahindra branding all over it. A few pieces of its design are acquired from some top-notch old SUV models by Mercedes-Benz.

Mahindra Alturas G4 is a masterpiece in its segment when we climb inside the cabin. The SUV is loaded with tons of features on the inside which the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour misses out on. The cabin inside is plush with a dual-tone theme of black and brown, where brown is finished by Nappa leather upholstery with some touches on the dashboard. Considering the size of the Alturas G4, space isn’t at all an issue for the first and second rows as it provides more than enough legroom and headroom space.

p>But the third row is where the Alturas G4 gets a downvote because the third row is placed on the floor and is meant for kids. It’s a place where adults will get uncomfortable very quickly.

Engine Performance

The independent wishbone suspension setup is a great work by Mahindra as it glides over the potholes and bumpy roads. Although because of the tall boy frame, the SUV feels a little body roll.

Also, braking could be a little better, but it’s great for what the price it comes in. As it has enough stopping power and plenty of grip from the wide tyres, you won’t feel enough lag in braking, no matter what the condition is.

Mahindra Alturas G4 is a Global model which is sold by the brand SsangYong. But in India SsangYong Rexton Fourth-Generation is sold by the name of Mahindra Alturas G4 in collaboration with the Indian brand Mahindra. Unlike its rival Toyota Fortuner which is available in both diesel and petrol variants, the Alturas G4 will only be available in diesel variants.
